Tv volume

Hi all,I have a Hitachi 4:3 tv with two scarts-one rgb-Problem is I have sky box,dvd and ps2 all plugged into a scart splitter and also vcr looped through the sky box,all this goes into the rgb on the tv.If i watch a dvd the vol on tv goes down quite low unless I pull the sky scart lead out of the splitter ,this also seems to improve the pq quality, why is this and what is the cure? All the leads are medium quality,I wondered If a switchable scart splitter would help. Thanks

Steve
