HDTV not 720p?

We have this exact HDTV.

http://catalog.ebay.com/Toshiba-42H8...T-TV-/48199091

Well the thing is I recently got a laptop with HD graphics and 1366x768 is its resolution.

That's obviously 720p and my laptop plays hd videos amazingly and i can really notice the reality in the images and pictures.

But my TV is 720p as well but when I connect hdmi from laptop to dvi (tv only has dvi and not hdmi), i dont get the reality images and even the colour isnt as good as watching on my laptop.

Shouldn't the images be exact?

We had work done earlier this year and I remember on the notice it said cleaning of the tv needed to be done but it was really expensive and we didnt go through, so does the tv need cleaning to be able to show 720p?

It's HDTV ready so would I need a HD tuner or something?, i just want to achieve the best picture possible out of this tv.

Re: HDTV not 720p?

Read page 13 of the manual here :
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpasse...42h83_om_e.pdf

Not intended for use with PCs !

(You should also have posted this in the projection TV forum section not in CRTs).

Re: HDTV not 720p?

Regarding the colours, is the image too dark ? If so you might need something like the GammaX, but it really depends on each particular set.
Regarding the resolution, no 720p is not 1366x768, 720p is normally 1280x720, you might want to try to set the output of your laptop to your TV to that resolution.
