RPTV vs crt projector

Hello

Has anybody wondered, why front projection crt is so expensive compared with RPTV.

It seems to me, that a crt projector is just a RPTV without the screen and box. I guess that the main difference is the light intensity output, where less is required of the RPTVs. The crt projector is designed to project up on a bigger screen and it also has to overcome the ambient light in a room.

This might be a dumb question, but if you designed a crt projector for use on relativly small screens (40"-60"), and in dark rooms, would it not be cheaper to make than a corresponding RPTV?

Since both RPTV and crt projectors are two of the most superior display technologies, I am convinced there would be a market for inexpensive crt projectors.
