Re: Component input and progressive scan
I've been trying to research your TV and all the information I've found suggests this is a 21" LG Flatron LCD not a CRT. But even that is guesswork as the only sources about seem to be some particularly unhelpful Indian retail web sites.
Whether the TV supports progessive scan I cannot confirm but that is actually irrelevant. If such information that is available is to be believed your TV inputs are composite, s-video and component. Since the component inputs will almost certainly give you the best picture quality you should be using them whether the TV supports progressive scan or not.
The fact is the game also has to support progressive scan and relatively few PAL PS2 games actually do this. So most of the time you will be getting either 480i or 576i depending on what region PS2/game/scan rate you're using whether you like it or not.
One thing to note though is that usually the PS2 is set to composite/RGB output. There's no auto detection of the output type so If you connect the PS2 to the TV with a component cable you'll get a completely blank screen.
So instead first you should change the PS2's output to component using the standard composite or s-video cable via the System Configuration menu. The picture will go green when you do this but don't worry. Then swap to the component cable and the colour will return to normal.
Hope this is of some help.
