Panasonic 36PD30 Aspect Changing

New 36PD30 delivered yesterday. I seem to have avoided most of the reported problems, but perhaps have a new one. 5 year old Pioneer DVD-515 connected via component inputs, great picture, but every once in a while the aspect changes:

If 16:9 previously selected, once every few minutes or so the 'Wide' message appears on screen. If auto selected, the image zooms to fill the screen and then goes back to normal 2-3 seconds later. Obviously the precise symptom is the TV losing then regaining the widescreen signal - the symptom varies depending on the aspect previously selected. If I scan back and replay the same scene then the problem does not reoccur.

Question is, do you think this is the TV or DVD? My previous TV was a 4:3, so never used auto widescreen switching before. Note I don't have another DVD player to try with the TV.
