widescreen problem

Hi

I recently got a panny tx-28ps1. I'm really happy with it apart from one thing. I noticed that when i'm watching something in widescreen, the picture at the left and right seem to be blurred. This is most noticeable when there's subtitles. Words in the centre of the screen are really sharp but text which is on the left and right sides are clearly not as sharp. It's not that noticeable in the actual picture, mainly in subtitles or any text at the sides of the screen. This problem is really annoying me. Please give me some help or advice.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Should i get an engineer to have a look at the telly?

Thanks

Kefka

You could start by reducing the brightness and/or contrast to see if that alleviates the problem. Blurring on CRTs is often caused by the tube being overdriven, although to be fair, this would more likely be across the whole screen rather than sides only. But try it nevertheless.

Failing that, it seems that the tube isn't focusing correctly and probably does need attention.
