Sony D50 questions

Hi,

Could anyone please tell me what tubes I should be looking for if I wanted to replace the D50 tubes?

I've read on past threads that the ideal resolution is 800x600 for this crt, which is fine for dvd disc's etc, but my htpc display looks a little fuzzy and wondered if I should be using a different resolution for htpc.

According to the manual this crt can do 1280 x 1024 what would be the problem of running at this?

cheers

S

Apparantly, that resolution is very hard to set up unless your tubes are newish. It looks too soft. 800 600 is always quoted, although 1080i is supposed to be possible.

Re: Sony D50 questions

The tube type you are after is the P14LKJ03. Very hard to get hold of apparently.

Alot of projectors can accept a high res signal, but showing it in full isn't so easy.

My 1272 can show a 1600x1200 according to the specs but i feed it 576p from my dvd player and its great. No scan lines at all. If you want to fully resolve an image at 1280x1024 with it looking razor sharp, you need a better pj. Otherwise, use a lower resolution.

Re: Sony D50 questions

thankyou for the tube info.

wasn't intending to goto the max stated resolution just wondered just how far up towards it you could go, maybe slightly higher than the 800x600 I'm currently using.
