Excellent I've been looking round the net to try and find all those classic bad cinema ads : remember " hey crusader have you any nuts?"

I'm happy to split the costs of the film reel?

If it needs any repair work or colour enhancement send me a digibeta chris and I'll see what I can do.

okeydokey.

I have emailed the guy that runs the website so I'll wait to hear back from him.

Some of the other reels look good fun as well.

I do know a few people at various labs in the UK so I will ask to see by some miracle that they may have an archive of old ads etc.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Cool.

We used to have a 35mm version of the older P&D at work with sound that was transferred from video originally I think. We used it for a laugh at the start of internal compendium screenings. However the library couldn't find it for me looks like we chucked it out at the last tidy up session!

I'd really love to get a hold of some of those naff old cinema ads to run for a laugh just before the "main" feature!

Anyone else finding it impossible to download the files
I guess it's just a question of being patient.

I'm sure it will be far better than the iffy quality VHS tape I have from P&D. Still, it was very nice of them to send it to me.

Now, to search out old "Kiora Orange", "King Cone" and "Frankies" ads for the full nostalgia trip.
Don't forget the "SRB" ad and those crappy local ones with the Dave 'Diddy' Hamilton-style voiceovers:

"Come to the Darenth Tavern, where you can dine well, make friends with service from helpful, courteous staff. And when you've done all that, why not dance the night away on our air-conditioned dance floor to the latest sounds.
The Darenth Tavern, only 2 miles from this cinema!"

Really what we want to do is put together a collection of all those 70s and before cheesy cinema greats complete with boomy echoing voice overs.

I wonder if we could buy the rights and actually put a dvd together?

downloaded the .bmp at work.

Easy enough to do an anamorphic 16x9 version ( its near as dammit the right aspect ratio). I'll see if I can smooth out some of the aliasing so it looks a bit more like native 720x576.

I just played that swf file and it made me smile. look! it's just like the cinema! It doesn't have the dirt and scratches like the cinema does though.

I'd love them to release a monthly dvd with cinema trailers on it (they would have to be transferred from 35mm to dvd properly though) that would be great!

Ok dudes,

I have ordered the 16mm print of the P&D opening and closing (with audio), now this may be the new print, but I have got a request in for the old Pillars style as well.
It cost only £20.
I can transfer it at work and then ship the DigiBeta to Mr.D who can clean it up if it needs it.
From there we can create an AVI or MPG of it, or even a DVD.

Oh, by the way have a look at this one - if anyony want's to split the cost on this let me know??

cool

Chris I'm assuming they'll do this anyway but try and ensure the print is sent for ultrasonic cleaning (or at least some sort of cleaning) prior to telecine.

Yeah I could split the cost of the reel with you.

Put me in for a Tenner Chris, I'd love to see these and I'm sure there will be others too.

Obviously there will be other costs involved with getting a finished copy from you or Mr. D.

£59.00 Cost
(£10.00) from Mark
£49.99 Left to find any others?

LMK if it's happening and I'll send the money.

Mark.

Nothing too expensive from me. I'll just pull the images online and put them on a HD ( I may not even need all 6400 frames depending on the condition). Looking at about 20gb worth of diskspace for the full 400' pulled off digibeta at same quality.

Only extra costs I can percieve are blank CDR. I'm sure I can get a gash digibeta.

Probably best thing for me to do would be work on the sections that needed work then drop them back into the cut on a dupe of the original digibeta.

I'd suggest copying the digibeta to DV and pulling that in via firewire would be an easy way of getting the files intto a managable format . Then we could look at maybe burning them to dvd that way people could do what they wanted with the material.

(the liciencing issues with this are a little bit of a grey area though : we'd have to be non-profit of course).

Not this time, but if there's a reel that has a selection of stuff from the late 70s and/or the 80s, I'll be up for it

Ok, There is better news.
I have now found someone with a full archive of negative of trailers and adverts from 70's and 80's.
They are compiling a list for me.
Most of this will be as a favour to me but I may have to cover printing costs which should be minor.
Aparantly, all the Kiora, butterkiss, wesslers etc that we know and love.
I don't know how much of this I can acheive free of charge but I will get all the stock to Mr D or whoever can help out. Then if people want copies we can discuss helping out with the costs.

I don't expect anyone to part with any cash up front!

We'll do it on a trust basis

Best wishes

Chris

That's great Chris!

'70's are a much better period for me too.

"Everyone around is looking for a King Cone"
"It's just for me and my dawg!....We all adore Keeeeora!"

This'll be a real trip down memory lane if it comes together.

Mark.
