resolution ??????

hi all
in the process of buying a new dell pc .the question i have is about the widescreen monitor..this may seem daft to you lot but i`m no expert here lol.
here goes anyways.
the monitor has a resolution of 1680x1050 (20 inch) how is this going to disply photos with a res of 3072x2304. or even the net, videos etc.i mean to say it ain`t going to stretch them ????? .i ask this because i1m in two minds whether or not to get a widesecreen monitor or stick with a normal one ..... cheers in advance

If the photo/video is in a widescreen conformation it will show it exactly how it is.

If its in a 4:3 conformation it will show it with black borders down the right and left.

Re: resolution ??????

As with all PC's a photo viewer will scale the picture to fit the screen. Just like a DVD is scaled up to fit.
The best thing to happen is widescreen in my opinion.

Re: resolution ??????

Not one of the games I have does not cater for a 16:9 display. I have a 22" Sammy with a native 1680 x 1050 resolution, and its just a joy to behold for games. For reference, I play mostly FPS (COD, Crysis, Far Cry 2 etc.), but even NWN2 has a native 1680 x 1050 resolution available.

As for the photo's, it will scale it to fit the screen, or you will scroll the view around to see the pic at its native resolution.

Re: resolution ??????

Games are not streched to fit, look at some of the options in your games and many are widescreen, no you will not have fat squatty action heros running around your screen.

Re: resolution ??????

I think games look much better in a widescreen. Been playing games on widescreen for about 4 years. Tried playing on a normal screen and it didnt look right.
