Did you get manual with it? does it not tell you in the computers specifications weather it's PCI-E or AGP, perhaps you could ask your mate.

I'll take that to mean PCI-E x 16 if you look up the specifications of the card you want to buy it should tell you the minimum wattage/psu you need to run the card, there should be a label on the psu you have telling you the wattage, amp, volts, you can check this to see if you meet or exceed the minimum requirements for the graphics card.
hope that made sense, Curly

I don't see any mention of teh PSU spec on that website, you'll have to take the side off the case and check the info on the PSU.
In my experience of configuring HP desktops at work, they tend to be very stingy when it comes to the PSU power ratings so I wouldn't be too optimistic.

It depends on the space for a new PSU and whether there are any non-standard connections from the old PSU to the motherboard.
I'd guess the connections will be the same, but the size of the current PSU and space you have to fit one into will dictate what you can do.
Just remembered, check there are the standard screw mount holes on the rear panel. I've seen some system builder's PCs where they're just not in the right place.
