Ever thought about ice cooling your PC? They do it a lot in the colder countries, Greenland, Iceland etc. It involves placing a large block of ICE against the CPU which then draws the heat. Obviously this can only work if the PC is in a cold environment i.e Iceland or in an igloo. To emulate this environment try placing your PC in the fridge... if the ice block continues to melt try it in the freezer..... Sometimes not very WAF as you will have to find somewhere else for the frozen peas. The added advantage of keeping your PC in the fridge is due to the seals on said fridge / freezer it can run totally silently.... bliss... those fan noises can really start to damage your ears if exposed too much over time....

be careful out there....

On the other hand oil does not conduct electricity.
You obviously haven't read the whole forum. I previously brought up the whole pure water conductivity thing, and someone else supplied photos of oiled machines.

Doh! You got me there

I got to about page 8 or so and jumped to the end. I hoped that no-one would notice.

pwnd

I got a 24 port 10/100 hub the other day. Very nice but it's also very noisy. I'm thinking about pulling out the fans and watercooling it. It shouldn't be too hard to seal it with putty or something. Anyone wanna give me some tips?

Yeah - Remember the old days with the DOT MATRIX printers and fan fold paper. Well you could get one of those sound isolation boxes that you used to put the printers in.

If you then find that its not enough, get a second sound isolation box bigger than the first. Then put the first into the second and stick your 24 port hub into the first.

Of course you can continue with this method adding bigger and bigger boxes until you reach the level of required quietness.

Hi

Has nobody thought of using Dilithium crystals for cooling, or just realigning the Warp conduits and channeling them through the long range sensors to decrease the noise generated by the CPU cooling fans??

Simple really, Dura.

Dilithium crystals would be no good - they channel power. If anything they'd increase the heat. Warp plasma is also very hot, I suggest you remove it from your PC. Channeling the Warp conduits through the long range sensors will only blow out the circuits and you'll have to use old binary-style computing till it can be repaired.

Yes, but by matching the output of the long range sensors to the exact phase of the shields, the heat could have been contained and further build up would be futile.

Matching the output of the long range sensors to the phase modulation of the shields will only let you detect shields at long distance. Use your loaf.

Comer, i read to about page 7 of this thread and was about to post about how ashamed i was to be Irish now and that i think you were to blame for all the paddy jokes but this thread was just plain hilarious well done... unless you have secretly thought about how stupid what you did was and are now trying to make out it was all made up?

Don't work any more. You were smart enough to see through Comer's obvious deception. Plenty of other people weren't :D

Hey, I read the whole thread just now - only 4 years late!

Anyway, there was one thing from the start that made the whole story sound rather dubious - nobody, not even someone stupid enough to fill their PC with water - would willingly buy a motherboard that used RDRAM! ^_^

great thread people !

this guy will be in the darwin awards if not already...........

but i just dont think that he has done what he says he has done as i dont know anyone who has built a pc that could be this stupid.

come to think of it you all should be ashamed of yourselves lol

Having just read the first three pages of this and skipping to the end.....I'm not sure if the guy admitted he was winding people up?

I mean what kind of idiot would fill a PC with water and then not expect loud bangs? I really hope it's a wind up....in fact.....I've decided it's got to be. It's impossible for anyone to be that dumb.

Hey, I've just had a thought....maybe if I silicone up my engine bay and make it water tight and then fill it full of water.....then I can get rid of my intercooler and my turbo will run loads cooler, resulting in an extra 1000BHP!!!!

...........

it's been 3 years and some months, but this thread is still alive. wow!

if i ever do that book on internet poetry, this thread will be honorably mentioned...

it's all a question of flawed design, though. dipping the components in varnish beforehand should work, as it'd create a protective layer of hydrocarbonic material. i'm gonna try that out right away.

anyone willing to follow my example should do a hard disk hardware defragmentation first, as described here: http://www.datadocktorn.nu/us_frag1.php

anyway, i was happy to find this forum, as i might need some new hardware in the future (a new pc, for example...).

oh, almost forgot, hello to everybody!

You are clearly justified in your anger. Post your address up here and I'll send you a complete replacement for all the water that has been wasted.

LoL, perhaps the funniest thing I have ever read...

This was linked from another forum to do with file downloading on the ED2K network, the thread was titled "An oldie but a goodie", it was in the "Funnies" section...

First time I've ever seen it tbh, I forgot I was a member of this forum lol...

I think we should start something called "The Comer Awards"...

Man you are soo, right, some people just donīt care about others, but donīt worry, your pc isnīt f*ck*d up, here is what you must do:

instead of using tap water or destilled water, you have to use car battery water, you know, the one that you put in the battery of your car (duh!), and it will work, the same happened to me and this fixed my pc and no noise anymore.

Remember, is battery water, not batery acid

Oh God, my sides hurt and I'm still crying...

This is the funniest thing I've read/seen/done in absolutely ages...I laughed for at least 10 minutes and cried for even longer. Huge pat on the back for the moderators for keeping this thread alive as it's better for your health than anything the local quack prescribes.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!
