Any one know what would be the quickest way to transfer 100gb off my laptop to my htpc!

Would usb to usb be sufficient or would a network patch cable be quicker or setting up a LAN?

I would think 100GB would take under an hour with a USB2 conenction. Doubt you could beat that with a network cable by the time you've got it set up

Yep - worth checking both ends are actually USB2 and are running as USB2.

How many files are you copying? A few, or millions?

i went to scan to buy a cable, come back and it said complete, checked all files and they are all there :|

When i live stream from venues and the internet router box is 20ft plus away, I use a 100ft Cat6 line. Sometimes I use the Cat6 line when im standing right next to the router. I believe information travels much faster through a Cat6 then through the wireless or in your case LAN.
So with that info I am guessing that USB2 is your best option however if you did have a short Cat6 line that was short it could speed things up quick. sears have a 7ft one for $11 I think.
