help with turtle beach x42 to pc

bought these for my xbox, work a treat and get all 4 lights lit, ie pair, power, surround and dolby. issue is i dont get the dolby light lit while watchin a film etc on pc, just surround, connected via optical, have 2 soundcards, creative x-fi xtreme audio and xonar DGX, tried both, but neither bring on the dolby light.
before u ask, creative is an old soundcard and bought DGX not so long ago to replace.
any ideas, should it give me dolby wen watching dvd or blu-gay movie on pc, or will any soundcard do it

cheers in advance

The manual is rather unclear as it just refers to 'Dolby digital' without referring to which of the half dozen technologies under that brand it means.

Reading between the lines my best guess would be that surround is for the downsampling from a 5.1 signal to the two speakers in the headset and Dolby is whether you're receiving a 5.1 signal or not over the optical cable.

You'll need a card capable of Dolby Digital Live if you want 5.1 output via dynamic sources (e.g. games) and unfortunately I believe you've managed to get the only card from each range that doesn't have it. However, films that come with pre-encoded 5.1 soundtracks should work, what player are you using for the Film?
