install hardware problem

bought JVC everio GZ-HM445BEK hd camcorder but cannot install as hardware using usb input on front of tower.
have to install software from camera which has to be used to upload video to hard drive. cannot find name of camera on device manager list. do get bubble bottom of screen saying new hardware found but just keeps popping up, have to get rid by using task bar menu and disabling.when I go back to device manager list page it dissapears and reappears every 2 seconds, have to reboot pc to stop it.what type of device on device list should it be installed on mtp or pmcia and flash memory devices, I am lost, can anyone please help

When you plug in your camera, the pc should just see it as a storage device and should be accessible in windows explorer. You won't see the name of the camera necessarily as the device should conform to the USB comms convention.

If you install the JVC software from the dvd, then this software should give additional features but is not essential for uploading only.

Thanks for help.
all sorted now, I was confused as device manager was giving Agfa cameras in list not JVC.
