Sound card in a HTPC home theatre set up??

I currently have a pretty high end HTPC which is still running stock onboard sound (Asus P8p67 Deluxe mobo) output over spdif. It is hooked up to a Onkyno AV reciever. I am unsure if my amp is doing DD& DTS decoding or the onboard sound on the mobo.

Do I stand to hear a huge difference with card such as the Asus Xonar D2X being nearly £100 worth with music, gaming and movies with HD Audio? if installed. These sources all play through my PC. Music is mainly Spotify, movies-Blu ray and PC games. Confused..
