cheapest laptop possible!

hi, looking to get the cheapest possible laptop!!! (doesnt matter if is refurbished aslong as its reliable and runs well)

important:
internet, at least 4-8gb memory (tho does low hard drive memory affect running speed?) and preferably light as possible - but cheapest is priority!

not important:
programs, camera etc, weight, style,

many thanks

Try Laptop Computers | Buy cheap laptops from Laptops Direct

They have some bargain refurbs.

Not sure if you are getting confused with memory and hard drive size? A dirt cheap laptop will typically find 1GB of memory and something like a 120GB hard drive.

hmm...sorry, im not an ITexpert.

so hard drive space is the place to save files etc?
memory is for all the system settings/files etc?

cos the cheapest ones ive seen say they have like 4gb-8gb memory (which seems very dubious) and from what ive heard, when you fill your PC with files to near full capacity, it can really slow it down .

so will a laptop with 8gb (quote:Hard Drive 8 GB Solid State Drive) run ok whether it is full or not?

many thanks for your help

Forget all of that.

RAM is what you need for the software to run. Its where its loaded to temporally. For a budget laptop your looking at 1GB to 4GB.

HDD or Hard Disk Drive is your storage space. Forget about a solid state as this is not cheap. Also it will typically be 40GB+ in a budget machine.

You need to have a quick search on the internet about computing basics as you have confused the types of memory. For a cheap machine, just for basic web browsing, DVD's etc try a supermarket. They will buy in bulk and sell low.

Re: cheapest laptop possible!

Asda are doing a decent speced small laptop for around £220 in my local store, I think its a samsung and has a 160gb hard drive, intel atom processor 1.6ghz, cant remember the ram but it would be over 1gb, you might want to check your local store to see if they have any as my local has loads, they come with windows installed.

or theres this one with linux for £190 also from asda Elonex 10in Large Screen Netbook | Laptops & Handhelds | ASDA direct
