hdmi over cat6 problems

hi guys.
having some problems,
have recently ran some cat 6 cable throughout the house to distribute my ps3 will also run sky hd,
i have used some wall plates from ebay,
basically 2 cat6 cables going into wall plate and hdmi socket at the front,
when ps3 outputs at 1080i the signal drops out very badly,
basically useless.
got a perfect picture when dropped to 576i the picture is perfect,
the sound is awful though,
obviously i would prefer 720 or 1080 but if i could get the sound sorted i would be happy enough !
would a hdmi extender at the tv help me in any way ?
or indeed any other solutions ?
many thanks in advance guys,

should have mentioned it roughly 20metres

Can you provide a link to the faceplates you have used and is it only a problem with the PS or does the sky drop out to?

sorry i should have put that in to begin,
this is probably a stupid question but if i cross the cat 6 cables would this cause the problem or would i get no signal at all ?
when i connected them i got picture and no sound and assumed it was the cable length ?

eBay.ie: HDMI Over CAT5E/CAT6/7 Wallplate Extender Kit (Pair) (item 220453188243 end time 13-Dec-09 20:20:02 GMT)

Personally I don't see how those wall plater extenders can possibly live up to the claims, especially being unpowered.

would i make any difference putting a powered extender at the end or would that just be throwing more money away ?
