Do I need to install 2 Cat6 cables?

I have coax cables running to every room in the house which then converge in the loft. In my lounge my TV is on the wall - Sky HD box is 8feet away but connected with coax cable running up to the loft and back down.

I have been reading the forum pages & decided to use the exisiting conduits & run Cat6 cabling alongside the coax cables. At the TV points I will use baluns to connect to the TV & set up a patch panel in the loft.

My confusion & therefore question is do I need to run two separate Cat6 cables from the TV point on the lounge to the loft & the same from the SkyHD box to the loft - and then into the patch panel?

If so why?

Re: Do I need to install 2 Cat6 cables?

If you want to distribute Sky in higher quality than Modulated video and mono audio you will need more than a single coax cable, Cat5/6 cables are often used as they are cheaper than long HDMI/Scart/Component cables etc. YOu will need a distribution Amp or Matrix switch to feed multiple rooms. For Video over Cat applications PAtch panels arent reconmended better to have direct connection.
