Hi

If any of you guys can help.I am a sparky and about to install 5 cat5e data points for a customer in his medical practice.I have never given this any thought as I have never earthed coax points in houses but somebody told me that I have to earth all the data points.Can any one help is this correct and if so what sizef earth cable is recommended please?

has anybody heard of earthing the back boxes when putting in data points please?

What cable are you using?

If you are using FTP then you'd expect to earth the end that terminates on the patch panel, not the remote data socket end.

Good point......FTP it is then!!

Thanks Mark it is so obviuos when you see it in black and white.......but as it is my first cat5 jocb did not want to get it wrong.
