1080p over CAT5... HDMI to CAT5 to HDMI

Is this any good?
HDMI OVER CAT5 TO CABLE EXTENDER 60M DEVICE BALUN 1080P on eBay (end time 02-Oct-09 13:20:04 BST)

Will there be any loss rather than using a standard HDMI cable?

Re: 1080p over CAT5... HDMI to CAT5 to HDMI

In theory no difference in image or audio quality using an Ethernet extender pair - though bear in mind that not all extender pairs are created equal.

Generally HDMI cables are reliable up to 15m - beyond 15m you need to consider some form of extender so tricky to really 'compare' them at long lengths.

When choosing your Extender you may want to ensure you have HDMI 1.3 compatibility, can deliver 1080p at the lengths you require and are generally pretty system independent (some Ethernet Extender pairs are a bit of a nightmare to integrate into systems).

Joe

PS I see info about a PC in your Sig. - again some Extenders are better than others with DVI equipped sources!
