RGB Scart over Cat 5 (with remote)

Hi all

Recently tried a 5.8hz wireless sender to get picture and sound to TV in our recent extension. It didn't really work due to the thickness of the walls, etc. So I'm now lookng for alternative solutions.

I'm considering using a pair of RGB Baluns to send/receive signal over Cat 5. The signal is from a Sky+ box and don't need to worry about any other devices. it's just a simple point to point systyem. The run is around 23m. Found 2 so far:
- Blue delta Scart (composite, but sends remote signals as well as video/sound)
- Madnat (doesn't sent remote signals, but a lot less expensive)

Has any one experience of these systems? If I send the signal using the Madnat system, how would I get the remote signals sent as well?

Any help given will be much appreciated.

The Milestone one is not RGB it is Comosite Video, which is why there have a spare pair for IR control.

What size screen will you be using?

Well there lies the dilema. it's a 50" G10 Panasonic Plasma, but I'm not upgrading to Sky HD yet due to the monthly fee.

Trying to keep the whole thing as cost effective as possible while still getting as good a picture as poss.

Tried the video sender, but the picture breakup was bad.

Is the Madnat the better option then?

Defenitely go for one with RGB scart then. You could also run a co-ax cable from RF2 on your sky box and use a TV link for remote control.

I'd also say run a 2nd cat5 cable at the same time. You can easily send HDMI using 2 cat5 and you never know skyHD may happen one day

Smart-e can do RGB over 1 Cat5e with Stereo sudio and IR (very clever system) but not cheap, RGBscart to YUV component is another option and use 2 Cat5/6 one for video and anothe IR and audio using cheaper baluns. This is my preffered solution using smart-e as well as Scart TVs can be fussy about signal sync variance

Hi Horny Dragon
Are you able to recommend a good, cheap Balun for the IR and Audio part please?
