av problem

I have just purchased a panasonic txp42v10.
I have a stb connected to this tv with ixos scart.
I also have a panasonic tv in another room this is also connected to the stb.
connections as follows:
lounge tv to stb scart
2nd tv connected to stb component baluns over cat6.
if i set the stb to rgb the tv in the lounge is fine but te 2nd tv has audio only and no picture.
if i set the stb to component the 2nd tv is fine but the lounge tv has a green picture. how can i solve this problem.

my previous tv was a th37px70 and this setup worked fine with the stb set to component.

thanks
regards
Freddie

Re: av problem

Hello freddie123

Component video is carried on three wires - YUV.

RGB video from SCART is carried on four wires - RGB+Composite sync.

Some, though not many, SCART enabled devices will carry YUV over SCART - whilst most will do RGB+Composite sync over SCART.

I suspect when you are setting the Source to Component (YUV) you are actually sending a Composite feed to the second TV - the video line that carries a Composite signal is the same line that carries the Sync signal of a Component video signal (usually colour coded Green!).

Details and links to user manuals for the STB, Component Balun and two TV's required at this point.

Re: av problem

thanks joe for your reply

the stb has scart tv out which is connected to lounge tv
it also has component out which is connected to the 2nd tv over balun and cat6.

both separate connections

what i can't understand is why this setup worked with my previous panasonic th37px70 but doesn't seem to work with my new panasonic txp42v10

thanks
