MP-3 Recorded on CD-R won't play in car.

I recorded some MP3 music files onto a CD-R which plays fine on my home Sony CD player, but my car CD player refuses to recognize it. Someone told me that I have to record it on a diffrent format for it to be recognized by the car unit. Please advise. Thanks.

Not all car CD players will play MP3. What make and model is your car CD player?

What if I re-record the MP3 files into another file format?

Sounds like the car radio doesnt support mp3 playback. The only way to get mp3's to work would be to make an audio CD but then your limited to 64minutes or whatever the limit is on cd's.

I've tried making an audio cd, didn't work. I tried saving the MP3 files in AIF format, but Windows Media Player refused to save them except as Data Files.

Re: MP-3 Recorded on CD-R won't play in car.

Audio CDs dont use AIF or MP3 - they need to be converted to Audio CD format. WHat burning software are you using?

If using Nero for example, just select Audio CD from the New Compilation screen, then just drag and drop your MP3s onto the blank window pane. Make sure you are burning to CD and dont exceed the capacity of the CD.

After that it should play in your car stereo.
Good luck.
