Ipod Controlling Head Unit - Single DIN, Best on markets

I'm looking to get a head unit for someone, I was going to get a head unit + cd changer, but it makes more sense I think to get a head unit that has fantastic ipod touch support

I was looking at the ALPINE iDA-X100 which seems to have excellent ipod touch support, displays album art, etc etc.

However on futher research it looks like there are a lot of little bugs in the software that have annoying little glitches such as playing an artist with album only has a bug with song selection (and a few other little bugs).

What Head units would you recommend that will interface well witht he touch and give as many features as possible, if possible it would be nice to also have a CD player in the head unit, but thats not the be all and end all.

You guys know your AV so offer me some quality products.

Alpine 9886 or for the extra audio control 9887.

I went for this over the x series as i wanted to keep the cd player, also has usb and aux input.

Re: Ipod Controlling Head Unit - Single DIN, Best on markets

seems an interesting suggestion,

doesn't seem quite as "cool" as the iDA-X100 which has features like album art which is a nice touch.

Does the Alpine 9886 or Alpine 9887 suffer from any of the bugs such as the iDA series do (software related).

seems like a do-able solution, just wondering if this is the best there is.
