New to ICE... a few questions if anyone can help.

Hi all,

I currently have an 05 Ford Focus with what I believe is a factory fitted 6000E Headunit and 6 Disc-changer.

Unfortunately whilst the CD player works great the radio is rubbish losing signal that the stereo in my other car picks up fine. I have checked the aerial and there does not seem to be any obvious damage but is it still quite likely that this is at fault? I have also seen online quite a few people with Ford 6 disc changers have a similar problem so it could be related to this? Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to get around it?

Finally, if I was to replace the unit (something I am considering at the minute mainly for an AUX input) do I need to know anything special? I know its a double DIN but could I get a blanking plate for the bottom half?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I may to replace my 6000. From my research it seems you can replace with another unit - Sony, Kenwood, Alpine etc. - and have an adaptor unit (also a wiring adaptor).

However, I don't know if you can continue to use the Ford CD changer.

I similarly want aux, MP3, iPod and USB so I don't have CDs kicking around in the car.

So maybe with a new unit with these features you wouldn't need to the CD changer?
