Road angel plus agro

will start from the start so you get the full picture....

a while ago (years) i was given the road angel plus as an xmas present and was great, used it all the time and then when it came to download the updates i did so from their website. about 4 months ago, the unit froze and so i contacted the road angel group and they said my warranty had ran out but offered me a refurbed replacement for a good price but with no warranty. They also told me the previous had froze because i was updating the firmware everytime which eventually fried the chip inside. i said it was there fault, they denied it and said they couldnt do anything else.

Had this 2nd unti for approx 3 months and was due an upgrade, so i went on the internet and searched road angel and a number of sites came up, looked at 3 and all seemed ok but there was 1 that i could easily find the update software so i downloaded it. plugged the unit in and then it froze and crashed AGAIN because was firmware update!! rang road angel group today to tell them and they werent interested but offered me yet another unit. They said i hadnt downloaded from the correct website and i didnt have a warranty, told them i couldnt find it on there website. I then rang consumer helpline and told them everything that happened and they said they would get back to me.

Rang the other website i got the update from and they said would contact road angel also as other people use there website for updating, never heard back from them but i kinda see it as there fault.

Road angel then rang me back, offered me yet a 3rd unit for £50 or £70 with a 6 month warranty!!

really annoyed and angry and needed another rant but what do u think? anyone? (sorry for going on)

Re: Road angel plus agro

Nothing to do with Road Angel, but I did a similar thing with a satellite reciever. Any computer based thing is very fussy about upgrades, and if they are not got from the manufacturer, or 1000% known to be good for your unit, dont do it. I find that unless you definatly need an upgrade, dont do it, especially if it works as it is. Good luck in finding an answer. I did get my reciever sorted, but what a game!!
