Tomtom One Eu Big Problem!!!!!

had this about 3 weeks.... performed faultlessly in France for two weeks and came to update it via the web tonite downloaded the updates and the PC doesn't see the tomtom and the USB with the red cross is still on the damn machine... oh and a helpful individual took the lead out of the item... how do you reset the unit??? Won't even switch off...

PLEASE HELP!
