TomTom 720 Refurbished issues

A few months ago bought a refurbished TomTom 720 to replace my One v3. The 720 seemed fine, and I used the latest map guarantee to update it to IQ routes and Lane Assist. Great. Workled fine, speedily, combined it with the safety cameras from Pocket GPS.

Then a few weeks ago it started playing up, losing the voice, then having a file write error, then just wouldn't boot. Sent it back and a week or so back I get a replacement refurb unit.

That worked fine for a few days, then I decided to do an update using TT Home. So, all official I used Home to find updates and apply them, one time maps (not lmg) and also the navcore to 8.3 etc. After updating the device became unuseable, very very slow, won't respond to key presses. Finally I got it to reconnect to PC and restored by Win Explorer a backup of the original 720 memory. Worked fine again as it came,

I decided to try and update again, this time only the application at 34 meg. Result, 720 is completely useless, registers keys presses to screen but doesn't action them, won't connect to PC etc.

Anybody else with this or similar? Bloomin useless having a 720 that can't be updated, feel like hammering the thing to achieve some satisfaction!

Total PDA sell these with 30 days warranty. 1 I'd ask people to be wary 2 This unit is a waste of money and not fit for purpose?

I've checked the documentation accompanying my unit and it clearly states 12 months warranty.

From their website..."every refurbished device comes as standard with the same 12 month TomTom warranty you would receive with a brand new device"

What is refurbished? - TotalPDA Ltd.

The fact they have so many refubed units should tell you something.... They keep breaking and are crap. Tomtom may have the name, but they are by far THE most unreliable units out there, and i speak from experience. You have had 2 units and both have failed. I would be asking for a refund now.

We'll, your 720 has the same hardware as my 520 pretty much and my 520 is working brilliantly on the latest maps with IQ routes, lane guidance, and navcore 8.3, even upgraded to full western europe on an SD card.

Not really had much of a problem with it ever, other than the occasional hang, usually using bluetooth handsfree. So I can at least vouch for the fact your 720s have been faulty, and it's not the design that's at fault!
