Do i go with single or double din? Pioneer or Alpine?

Hi guys
I am trying to figure out which headunit to go for to replace my ageing alpine 9812 unit. I am not that bothered about CDs as i cant remember the last time i played one in the car, I have all my music on my phone now so compatability with iphone 3g is very important. I think i have narrowed it down to either Alpine or Pioneer but i am not sure whether to go with single din or double din, single din gives me the use of my cubby hole which i can store my iphone for easy connection ( in am sure i could utilise the ashtray or something if i went double din though) and gives me a removable front. Double din might be better for ipod control which makes me lean towards that though. I also dont want to spend a fortune, £400 max, my solutions so far are

Pioneer 4100

Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD - Mobile Video

Alpine W404

Alpine IXA-W404R Double DIN iPod Media Receiver

Alpine X305

Alpine IDA-X305 - USB/SD Players

Alpine 9887

Alpine CDA-9887R - CD Player

Any thoughts or suggestions are most welcome.

Cheers

Hi m8

well it really depends on what you like, myself i aways went towards kenwood years ago.

Some of the double din do look good but they aways say look at me and my bmw stands out anyway lol. What about single din with flip out screen? There doesnt seem to lots these about now days but i still wouldnt swap my kenwood 925 for anything.

So what about
Kenwood KVT-524DVD DVD Receiver
Kenwood KVT-524DVD

only thing missing is removable face like my 925 and few to much money

from your list it would be Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD

Thanks for the reply jason, I like the kenwood double din, but its out of my budget, not keen on the flip out screens though, its probably it bit flasher than i want too.
Im swaying closer to the 305, not sure i want to temp thieves by displaying a double din thats ready to steal.

Double din screen would look best but i think you answered you own question and if you dont like flip out then its single din really

Well as i said i wouldnt swap my 925 for anything even tho its dated now,Kenwood KVT-925DVD multimedia system even detacthable front..

Well another look what about this jvc JVC KD-AVX55 DVD Receiver

You can enjoy both audio and video* from your iPod/iPhone or USB devices, and even fine tune the soundscape with 7-band iEQ.

and inspec Detachable front Panel pdf http://jvcmobile.co.uk/documents/pro...D-AVX77_55.pdf

or next model up JVC KD-AVX77 DVD Receiver but £470

I've also been looking at the Pioneer AVH-P3100 and P4100 but the iPod connector on the front instead of been able to wire it in from the rear puts me off. If you do go with the Pioneer please let us know how it works out for you and if u find the front connector annoying or not

Alpine matey

I think you should look at the IXA-W407BT and the NVE-M300P alpine systems, as they offer a great full system..

Check out thier web site as I think there are some good christams deals going on at the moment as dealers want the buisness...
