Ford Focus 2007 6000 CD (rounded one) AUX - tips you will need

Unfortunately, no one helped me (http://www.avforums.com/forums/car-e...l#post10825882) so today I decided to do it by myself.

Here are some tips and tricks, if I knew those I would need less time to perform my task - make aux cable for the 6000 CD (rounded one) stereo in ford focus.

My English is far from perfect - sorry for that.

This is how my stereo look like http://www.img.ba/yajv

1. Watch carefully SIO Communications video tutorial http://www.avforums.com/forums/car-e...sony-cd-3.html (or in you tube type sio communications)

2. Good news - probably you dont need to remove the front panel and stereo coz wiring is already there so jump to glowes compartment to find a connector where you will connect your 3.5" jack - your mp3 player.

3. Remove screws like in tutorial and remove the glowes box plastic. You ll notice a lot of wires, bend a bit so you can see the top of the hole where plastic glowes box was. you ll notice that there is bright 4 pins red-black female connector with 3 wires connected.

4. I compared the wires to the rear panel of the CD http://www.img.ba/df52 and found that white and gray white wires you see attached to red connector are left and right channel, black wire is ground.

5. Now you have to make a connector which fit fords red connector. You need 4 pin male connector. At the side pins you ll put left and right channel and as a one of the middle pins you ll put ground. Here is the scheme

L G X R

L - left
G - ground
X - free - no wire
R - right

I didnt cared which channel is left and which is right so In the case that I needed

L X G R

I could just turn the connector for 180 degress while connecting it to red connector.

Its maybe confusing but if you dont care will left channel become right you can, as I did, put left and right on the side pins and ground in the one of the middle pins and it will work fine. If it doesnt work just turn your connector for 180 degress and connect it to red connector again.

-----

If you care which channel is which - check the red connector wires and make the appropriate wiring.

-----

So, we need male 4 pin connector with L G X R pins.

Maybe it will be hard to find 4 pin male connector, its basically very similar to those used in computers and bcoz I didnt had original connector it I took the piece of hardware which is used to raise the connectors from the motherboard and it come with most of the motherboards. It looks like this

Im sorry but I didnt photographed my original connector so the picture show unaltered one...

Before you continue your work take 3.5 male connector (same as you have on your headphones) and put it thru the hole on the rear of the plastic box of the glowes compartment. I didnt liked that place so I made the new hole on the side, much closer to the glowes compartment door.

After you pushed the wire thru the hole its time to connect those wires to connector you made / bought.

In my case I removed 5 pins and then took the 3 pins of those 5 and I welded 3 wires of the 3.5 connector to those removed pins.

So again, you ll make L and R to be side pins on red connector and GND (ground) will be one of the middle pins.

Now you have all you need.

Put your connector into the red connector in the ford and stick them with the duct tape.

6. Time to put back the glowes compartment inside the car. If you have the compartment with the cooling system you ll have a lot of problems to make sure that the air cooling tube on the left side of the compartment find its place in the plastic of the compartment box. My advice is use small battery torch so you can see what are you doing inside of the compartment. You need that damn air cooling tube just to be approximately at the right place coz later when you put the compartment screws back you can adjust the tube position it with the screwdriver from the inside of the compartment box. I needed 1.5 hours just for that coz light wasnt sufficient and for 1.5 hours I didnt notice that plastic compartment box is not at the right place so the compartment door was stucking all the time.

Take the time, be sure that everyting is on its place, be sure that the vent tube is partially on its place, put the screws and from the inside put the tube on the right place with the screwdriver (just push it in the need direction from the inside).

If you are lucky guy and you dont have that damn cooling tube you ll make it in 5 minutes.

So thats it, connect your player, press aux at the car stereo and enjoy

In the case that you need to pull out the CD from the car I suggest you to use hair dryer.

1. To easy remove the silver front panel http://www.img.ba/mdhx which is around the ventilation knobs and around the 6000 CD use hair dryer. Heat a bit the place where you want to detach the panel and you will detach it easyer

2. As in video tutorial start at the sides and slowly go around the panel, heat - detach, heat - detach until only the middle clip remain - its just above the button which control the heating. You ll need greater force there coz there are few clips, be brave and pull it...

3. if you detach the cable like the guy in video tut did you ll need the code to unlock the 6000 CD.

Once again sorry for my english but I hope that you ll understand what I was trying to explain.

If you are in doubt about some procedures contact me at igord2@gmail.com Im not an expert but I did it so maybe I can help.

Best regards from Sarajevo / Bosnia
