Ford Focus Stereo

I have a 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 Style and the stereo is rather disappointing. The sound quality is poor, particularly the bass

It's worse than my old Kenwood head unit and that wasn't an expensive one.

DO I need to replace the speakers or the head unit or both?

Does anyone else share my view?
