Navigon 3300 and 3310 (and 4310) differences

Hi,

After spending a fair while scouring the internet for views on different sat nav units - I think I've now settled on a mid-range Navigon (and yes, I did start thinking I'd only spend GBP50!)

However - I'm slightly confused that Halfords sells a 3300 unit at around GBP120 whereas the Navigon website and others sell 3310 units at a few quid more. Is it a typo? Is it just a renumbering for Halfords to call it their own? Or is there a hardware or featureset difference?

And on a related note - is the 4310 unit the same hardware as the 3310 (but more features enabled in software) - I noticed another avforums user had to physically exchange the 3310 to get 'upgraded' to the 4310 - which seems a bit strange.

The other contender was the Navman S100 (about 30 quid cheaper) but it sounds like the navigation controls are a bit fiddly ... this is for my wife who hates complexity! (ok, no suggestions we just buy an A-Z)

Used to be the case that xx00 meant UK maps only, whilst xx10 includes all of Europe.

Obviously depends what you want in the way of maps.

Should say on Navigon's UK website.

Thanks.

Actually having researched a bit more, I think the new question is more the hardware side:

Is the 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx series all the same hardware (and just software features)

Or is there a higher spec CPU on the higher numbering (e.g. to power the more sophisticated 3d views, etc etc... ....)

Thanks

Having spent some time comparing the Garmin Nuvi 1300, Navigon 3300 Max and the Tom Tom XL IQ Routes. We're going for the Navigon.

It would appear that only Halfords sell the version with UK / ROI maps only. The standard model being Europe wide.

I note that a number of stores are out of stock however others do, apparently, have stock.

I've thought for the last couple of years that speed limit information could be to be useful. I'm not aware of other manufacturers providing this service.
