Not real sure about this

ok i have a pioneer spl 12 dual 2 ohm voice coils rated at 2000 rms and 3000 peak and is pushed by a crappy spare 1200 watt 2 ch. sony amp (my other amps fried) and i can barely hear it over my factory speakers. A guy told me that it can be much louder if it is hooked up right (he didn't look at it he just assumes i have it wrong). I have been installing car audio for 6 years and have always hooked up my systems the same way with no problems. what is the best way to hook up this speaker to this amp?

Have you bridged the speaker to the amp??? what is the omhs on the wire coming from the sub to the amp? Have you got +2+ -2- and one speaker wire out??

Re: Not real sure about this

you might have wired it up in 8ohm mode, so you power will be cut. check the speaker connection and make you have wired it up in 4ohm mode, and is you amp in bridge mode?

Re: Not real sure about this

no the amp is 2 ohm stable x2 channels so i have each 2ohm voice coil on its own channel. the actual resistance on the coils is about 1.97 so call it 2
