I have had this GPS unit for some years and as the memory battery is failing I contacted Garmin support.

I was very disappointed when they said they no longer supported this model and that I could try changing the (CR2032) battery myself. The manual says that user servicing is not possible.

I think this is very poor service from a leading brand.

After removing the screws and taking the back off I couldnt even see the battery!

Can anyone either give me "idiot proof" instructions on how to change the battery or recommend someone who could do it for me.

It would be a great shame to write off a perfectly useful gadget for want of a battery.
