TOM TOM One can i repair it????

TOM TOM One can i repair it????

Hi guys,
The usb plug from my TOM TOM One is broken loose......i need to open the box to see but it has to wait until i get a star allen ke for it...
mena while is it fixable or it will be a wast of time?
the usb thing is ratling in the box when shaked......can i glue it back when i open it?

One of my colleagues at work had a similar problem with a different model.
It probably won't be a case of "glueing".
The connector on the one I saw was surface-soldered to very narrow pcb tracks.
From your photo I'd guess that at the very least all the joints are broken, at the worst, the tracks have peeled away from the board and/or snapped.
You might be lucky but don't build up your hopes.

open it and post some pics of the damage but i have dealt with this sort of issue on laptops and it was a case of soldering it back on or using an old one of another usb device and putting that on in place.

glue job i can't see working but might do you need to open it first.

Do you know what kind of allen key do i need to open it? I was told in MAPLIN that these are security kind of keys so you dont open causing the warranty to kick in!!!

any ideas?

Hi guys!

If you remember i had a problem with my TOMTOM with the usb port that was broken.

The good thing is that i fixed it £25 £$£"%"£%

But now when i conect it to the charger either in the car or on the computer, doesnt seem to do enything !!!!

Turns on but it doesnt prompt to do anything !!!

The PC doesnt regognise the device either !

Anybody any ideas or help???? Anybody has the TOMTOM ONE drivers?

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

Also when i remove it from the USB it comes with the graphics not to remove the memory card!!!!

Does anyone know where i can get a new touch screen for my tom tom v2? i am gutted the thing was ok this a.m., took it out the bag and it was broken :-( i am happy to fix it if i can get spares cheaply.
