Hi, all satnavs on the market that say they have a speed camera database have so only for fixed cameras (gatso, truvello, specs etc).

You'll need a dedicated radar detector (like road angel, snooper) to deal with mobile stuff.

Hope that helps.

Not strictly true, apparently. TomTom XL IQ Routes "LIVE" supposedly has this facility. Mine shows me locations of mobile camera VANS with a "?" mark next to it. Not come across a van inposition to know what symbol pops up to confirm live location. Suppoedly TomTom & Road angel in partnership to display upto date LIVE van position every 3 mins. You do however have to pay for this facility. I am however very happy with mine. Comes with a 3 month trial of live services. Bought mine off QVC so I had 30 days to decide wether I liked it or not.

Re: mobile van speed camera detection sat-nav

No. Tomtom's LIVE services will only show you 'mobile speed camera location 'hotspots'.
This is where they have researched cameras to be found, so nowhere near as accurate as actual units with a laser receiver i.e Road angel.
Plus LIVE costs £7.99 a month after your 3month free trial.

The snooper sapphire and the New Road Angel are both very good units. Although the Road Angel unit gets the better reviews everywhere.
I've personally used the RA and can confirm it is a good bit of kit that will do exactly what you need.

Re: mobile van speed camera detection sat-nav

Right the models that you're looking at (6000/9000) are the actual satnav units with built in camera detectors (although not mobile unless you buy extra receivers).

I would avoid these as the actual satnav side of things is just plain awful. Very very badly designed imo.

What you should be looking at is the Road Angel camera detector, I think the latest is the RA Professional...

Re: mobile van speed camera detection sat-nav

Hi
The RA Professional is the one, expensive, but so are speeding tickets.Mine has worked a treat, does not need updating off computer as this model updates every three minutes using satellite GPS.
