Garmin Nuvi 660 "GPS is off". Reed switch problem?

Hi guys,

I just bought a used Garmin Nuvi 660 cheap off ebay, that was described as not work, but Im working on a project to custom fit it in my car so thought Id give it a try. When I got it, I turned it on, but it just says "GPS is off" even with the aerial flipped up. Its as tho it doesn't know the aerial is flipped up so doesn't turn it on.I found some info that it may be the reed switch (proximity sensor) inside, but thats as far as I got. I've taken it apart, and can't identify a reed switch, but I've never got involved with SMT components before, and they all look the same.

Heres a pic of the area directly behind where the aerial flips down to, so I'd imagine it would be here somewhere.

If anyone can Identify it, then maybe I could bridge/cut it to get it working.

Thanks in advance.

Gareth
