Which sat nav???

Hi,
We must be the only people not to already have a sat nav, and have admitted defeat and decided to go and get one.
Im not very 'clued' up on these things an my hubby is worse, so we're in need of some advice on which to get.
We've looked at Halfords and have seen a Garmin nuvi 1200, which to us seems a good choice.
We very often have days out or holidays here, so no need for european maps etc.
Finding petrol stations/supermarkets/restaurants etc is a must, im not sure if this is a standard feature on them all?
If anyone could guide us the right way, i would be very gratful.

Re: Which sat nav???

There does seem to be alot of choice when it comes to electrical devices like phones ,pda's and satnav's . I started off with a pda type satnav [from Halfords] and progressed to designated ones [Navigo's] and even have TomTom on all my phones .
Great , usefull things to have around , but bare in mind when buying you dont want something that will be outdated very quickly , by that I mean in terms of maps ..................choose a model that can be updated especially a one you fit an SD card in the side .More memory means you can get newer maps and more of them on a memory card . Some models have internal memory so updates are difficult , its alot easier to bung a new map on a card and pop it back in your satnav . Some satnav devices allow you to run other satnav software and will play back videos, photos and music .
Lots of folk prefer other software but I personally like TomTom ,it does the job well . I have 2 of the cheaper brand of satnav's ...Navigo's .My version 2 is very small and light , battery lasts for ages , can play movies ,music and show pictures , not that I do very often but it's a facility that comes with the device . I run TT7 on it and it's excellent and it was only £39.99 from W*Smith. TT7 helps you find doctors ,hospitals , petrol stations and in emergencys will tell you exactly where you are , in case you have to notify a service like the AA or similar .Maps are updated regularly also . I wouldn't go out and spend £200 or anything near that on a satnav .....some do ...as these things are good targets for thieves .
So, the choice is yours , but do a little research on the net first and check out the prices .

Absolutely nothing wrong in going for the Navigo.Reliable, easy to update/upgrade and cheap as the proverbial.
