Depends on what you mean by cheap?

Take a look at this thread.

Re: What options do i have for a cheap but decent sat nav?

I bought one for my parents at the weekend from Amazon, it was the Garmin 205 for £60. Bearing in mind that both of them are total technophobes and generally can't work anything new spangled and shiny, they both got it straight away and are very pleased with it's speed, screen responsiveness and additional features (although most of these features are found in other sat navs - car parking, food, fuel etc).

My girlfriend also has a Garmin, slightly older than the one above I think and she is also very pleased with it.

Hope that helps

Re: What options do i have for a cheap but decent sat nav?

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 200 from Amazon about 6 weeks ago.

It was £59 at the time - think they've gone up to £69 now.

In terms of what you'd be looking for, its perfect. Like you I was new to Sat Nav, and just wanted something basic. We've just been for a mini break in Edinburgh, and it got me from Leeds to Edinburgh, via an overnight stay in Durham, without any issues at all. Also found all the attractions we wanted to visit without any hitches.
Display is nice and clear, and the default voice on it was good enough for me. It came loaded with the latest maps, and also has speed camera warnings - the instructions said it was a free 30 day trial, but I seem to be well beyond that now and its still producing them

I think the Nuvi 205 can be had for £59 at the moment on Amazon - not sure what the differences are, but might be worth a look.

Ian.
