Navigo 4.3" Widescreen Satnav Battery replacement??

Hi guys

New member to the forum.About a month ago I bought a Navigo 4.3' Satnav off a seller on Amazon. The unit works fine but the battery does not charge up.So that battery recharge screen never goes past the first bar. This means that when I turn my car lights on,which obviously use battery, the Satnav dies.

I have tried charging it via the car charger,USB and a mains charger but the battery just wont hold a charge and needs to be replaced. Do you know if these are available to buy or *maybe* if someone on this forum has one?

Regards.

Re: Navigo 4.3" Widescreen Satnav Battery replacement??

My 4.3" v1 Navigo is the same , the battery's used are very poor , yet the v2 holds it's charge for ages . Some they you can take the back off and try and match a similar battery from places like that well known auction site . I'm sure I read there was room for 2 batterys in the compartment . I haven't as yet taken mine apart , but I will when I get a spare moment as I need to replace mine too.

Do you know how to take the back cover off the unit? I need to take it off to see what battery is in there and buy a replacement

Re: Navigo 4.3" Widescreen Satnav Battery replacement??

Are you talking about the same Navigo v1 4.3" ??
Mine has 4 cross head screws , one in each corner on the back of the unit .You cannot miss seeing them , one is behind the stylus. I presume by unscrewing the 4 screws the back will simply separate from the other half ,exposing the battery and workings .

Re: Navigo 4.3" Widescreen Satnav Battery replacement??

Hi ricky, thanks for the reply

Since my last post, i have managed to open the unit however something is holding the motherboard to the backplate preventing access to the battery. I dont want to yank if off as there is a good chance that either the motherboard will snap, a cable will cut or ill damage an element of the motherborad. There are 3 clips holding the motherboard in place but once I loosen the clips, the motherboard just wont dislocate!

Very frustrating!

Re: Navigo 4.3" Widescreen Satnav Battery replacement??

I've just taken mine to bits now , three plastic clips to lever away from the board . The circuit board has just poped out with no trouble .The battery is a small flat pack [50mm x 70mm] with the markings :XK 3850 68 , 1300mAh 3.7V ,CL11D .
There's something to go on when doing a battery search . I'll check that well known auction site for a silmilar battery . In the meantime , if you find one , let me know as I want one too .

update: just done a search and found this on that well known auction:
180356390460 [item number]
Built-in protection circuit PCM for prevent over charging or over discharging
3.7V 900mAh Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery

not exactly the same ampage ,but it's a close match and apears to have the circuit at the top like the original and it's only £4.99 .

Hi

I've used a nokia BR-5C battery, I removed the red and white wires from the old battery and soldered them to the nokia.

Capacity of BR-5C is 1000mah, so life should be reasonable!

Success

Green light comes on after about 1h 20mins of mains charging.

It gave 2h 15 mins of use before giving up.

A result in my book given the battery is a year old!

I took the battery out of my spare nokia phone, there are loads of batteries on fleabay that would work. Search for BR-5C or BL-5C. get a genuine Nokia if I were you.

p.

edit. Slightly smaller than the original

Hi,

How do you remove the back plastic cover off the Navigo 4:3 widescreen model? I've taken the four tiny screws out but it still feels very firm. I am concered I'll snap it if I lever it much more? Is there a trick?

Thanks.

Resurecting this thread in for reference...

Just done this, the back cover doesn't come off, the bit that comes off is the front bezel with the touchscreen attached. The main PCB stays inside the back held in by clips. After measuring the insides, I have ordered a larger 2.5Ah, should give a much improved run time.

My Navigo 4.3" battery has never been much use even from new, losing charge within seconds lately when the cigarette lighter/usb cable would pop out mid journey.
Decided to solder (I have very poor soldering skills) in a Nokia BR-5C battery which went surprisingly easily, however managed to break the tiny speaker wire connections.
Had already decided that if I cocked up soldering them on again, I would just plug a speaker into the external phono socket.Needn't have worried as this went well too.
Before you attempt opening up the unit, I recommend you get some double sided tape as the battery bouncing about inside would not be too healthy.
Thanks to all those that provided the very useful info to enable this replacement
