satnav with GOOD up to date traffic reports!!???

hi all

i'm fed up of getting caught on motorways here in the uk that move at a snails pace ...

i travel most weekends around the uk playing with beatles tributes and to be late is usually NOT an option.

i currently have a basic myguide satnav which is OK (ish) but wondered if there was anything on the market that would give me very up to date traffic information?

thanks, si

The free solutions can be ok, at othertimes they can be a bit off. How about one of the newer tomtom's with HD traffic TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems or the free tmc service TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems

I've heard good things about tomtom HD but the free traffic I wouldn't bother with on a tomtom. If you don't want to pay for traffic updates but want very accurate tmc then the navigon 4350max for £160 is a bargain. It's route calculations will also give you 3 routes to chose from, depending on the time of day and day of the week, will also recommend which one of the 3 is better

Just checked it out it does look VERY good! ...2 things:

The prices vary dramatically, the cheapest I can find is Halfords, is this where you got yours from (£169)??

How quickly does it update any traffic hold ups??

Many thanks, Si

Re: satnav with GOOD up to date traffic reports!!???

The traffic updates are every few mins. If you have a route planned, it will speak to you and say "please check your screen" and you see a red traffic symbol. If you have the "auto re-routing" switched off, you then press the screen button and it will offer you up to 3 other routes, if they are quicker. And give you a list of traffic problems on your route. If you set it to auto re-route you, it will do so if it finds a quicker route. The tomtom will just re-route you, even if it takes longer to avoid the traffic. I got mine from halfords @£160. If you buy from Navigon i think its around £200! Its the bargain of the year if you ask me. So far ive been VERY impressed by it.
