I have the Kendwood DNX 7200 unit installed and would like to update the firmware, however I do not have the box or instructions and to remove the unit would cost me. Could anyone advise how I can download the firmware without the need for the serial number of obtain the number from within the system menus?

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

can't say whether or not this will help solve your current problem but......since you're missing the instruction manual you may want to download an electronic copy here

Thanks for the posting - I have had a read through and it doesnt reference a way to obtain the serial number for the unit - I have emailed Kenwood but I have a feeling I will need to remove the unit just to obtain the Serial number which will then allow me to dowload the firmware from their website....

If you have the documentation the serial number is shown on the "Kenwood Audio Passport" that comes with the unit. This also shows the PIN required if you've enabled the security and remove power from the unit. The passport is a small folded over cardboard booklet the size and shape of a credit card.

I'm pretty sure you can't obtain the serial number anywhere in the user interface. If you don't have the passport the number is on the label on the top of the unit.

1. Serial No is your Device ID.. you may obtain it by following these steps:
- from the navigation unit --> Menu --> Settings --> About --> Software.

2. In order to update the unit, you'll have to connect the usb cable (type A, the other end of the cable is mini USB). You'll have to open the unit and connect the mini usb with the wire at the back of the unit.

3. Connect the usb to your laptop and login to Garmin, and enter the Serial No ( Device ID).
