HD Camcorder from Comet!

Hi Guys,

A couple of quick questions please.

I have accumulated a couple of hundred quids worth of Comet vouchers through a card points scheme and the only thing I can think of that I need is a new HD camcorder before my holiday next month.

My knowledge in this area is poor but I have had a look on the Comet website and the one that I like the look of is the Sony HDRXR106E.CEH which is discounted by 25% from £800 to £599. In addition if I can tip the spend to just over £600 with a cable or something I can get an extra £50 off with a voucher code.

1) I am struggling to find reviews on this particular model, would I be getting a good deal for £550 considering half of that will be paid by my vouchers?

2) Is there a better option on their website (Panasonic HDC-HS20EB-K) or is the sony my best bet?

3) Should I save my vouchers and buy a completely different Camcorder from somewhere else!

Thanks for your help,

Karl.

HDR-XR106E (HDRXR106E) : Camcorders : Sony.

a fair price for the 106e but i would pay a bit more for the SR11 PERSONALY but it does have a larger hard drive and fair spec.

Thanks for your reply.

Whats better about the SR11? I'm not fussed about still pictures as I have a good camera, and ideally I'd like to use the vouchers if possible and comet haven't got the SR11.

Re: HD Camcorder from Comet!

I guess Chris feels the SR 11 is " tried and tested" rather than " better"
As it happens The Comet in my area has the SR12 in stock

Ah I see okay thanks. I have just checked again and they do have an SR11. But to be honest I was kind of stretching the budget a tad as it was, hoping that I was getting a really good deal.

Thanks Chris, bought this yesterday been having a play today and quite impressed.

Was thinking of buying the VRD-MC5 sony recorder as I always struggled with copying to PC then to DVD (not too great with computers). What do you think of this product, I have a PS3 by the way to play. And would my old Sony HC40e be able to copy from it's Mini DV tapes to it?

Also I tried to connect the camcorder to my Panny PHD8 by taking the HDMI out of my Sky box and watching it direct but the HDMI connection looks different on the camcorder?

Sorry for the numpty questions
