Re: mac and video editing

How much you can fit on a DVD is determined by file size, not by duration. A single layer DVD holds roughly 4.7GB of data. This means that - whatever the length of your video - you need to compress it to fit the medium of a 4.7GB DVD - that is, the file size of your finished movie needs to be less than 4.7GB. Thus, the longer your video, the lower the bitrate you need to use when compressing it to fit on DVD.

iDVD will execute the appropriate bitrate and compression for you. Just drag your full-resolution .mov file into the iDVD theme you've chosen, or use File => OneStep DVD from Movie if you want to make a DVD that plays automatically, without a menu.

Re: mac and video editing

Thanks for that but i am real novice when in Imovies i simply use the share bottom to go into IDVD and press burn no options i can see about the bit rate etc. Also if compress the file do i loss the HD quality if so any point of buying a hd video camera.

Sorry for being a complete idiot

Desperate need of help

cheers
