Sony or Panasonic?

its a mine field all the choices of camcorder out there, I like panasonic but Sony seems to have better reviews........or do they?
For around £500 what manufacturer would be best for my first HD camcorder that will last a good few years?

P.S I bought the panasonic HDC-SD20 from QVC recently but I feel theres better out there for £500 as opposed to £300.

Re: Sony or Panasonic?

What's wrong with the HDC-SD20? Did you send it back?

Of those two I'd tend to choose Sony but then you have to face the costs of expensive memory stick cards unless you go the HD route.

You could also consider Canon but the HF100 (i.e. sub £500) is hard to find now.

Re: Sony or Panasonic?

What specific extra features are you looking for, if you were going to spend another £200?
