JVC Everio Software help needed please

I have a JVC - Everio GZ-MG50 camcorder but i have misplaced the software CD that came with it. Due to JVC's proprietary nature i now can not view files on my computer without that CDROM. I phoned JVC customer service but they say i have to pay 25quid for a new CDROM! The cheek...

So my question is, is there anywhere where i can download this software, or any other software that will work with the file formats (.mod i believe.)

Re: JVC Everio Software help needed please

*.MOD files are modified mpeg2 files
You could either rename them from *.mod to *. mpg or convert tam ( i would simply rename TBH)
*.mod file extension is also used by Panasonic Camcorders so it isnt proprietary to JVC as such

JVC tend to use a cut down customised version of Cyberlink Power Producer and Director in thier bundled package
Many folk tend to upgrade to the full versions
Virtually all modern software support "mod" anyway

As such , you cannot blame them for asking for £25 as it would have been part of your original purchase and you did lose it
I dont imagine you need it to actually download from camcorder

As an aside VLC should read *.mod files : give it a go

Re: JVC Everio Software help needed please

thank you very much for all that info.

I know that i got the software with the camcorder, but we all lose things! I was just hoping i wouldnt have to pay to get another copy!

VLC sounds good i'll give that a go and let you know how i get on.
