Re: long play video to dvd

Hi the most straightforward way is to use a dvd recorder. The fact you have recorded in LP only means the quality is already on its bottom limit but should still be as good once on dvd. What was the reason for using LP on the vhs I mean are the programmes actually that long that you need to use it or was it just to get more on tape .The reason I'm asking that is you cant afford to put much more than 2 hours on a dvd really without risking some quality loss But once you have them on dvd it is simple to put them on the pc and then if require edit bits out if needed .Lets know what your actual requirements are and we can go from there.

Re: long play video to dvd

In that case you might well get away with just putting them as is on to dvd.Only you can judge if the quality is ok.Obviously you can split the tapes ie if its 4 hours you can just put 2 hours on each disc snag might be splitting actual programs .All this is done in realtime as is any other method of getting it onto pc.If he has loads of tapes it'lbe along haul. One thing you could consider but a bit more expense is a dvd recorder with a hard drive then there would be no worries about space but he would need one as well

Re: long play video to dvd

If your VCR has an "S" + L & R audio output, and the DVD recorder has a hard drive, just connect the two using the line input on the recorder, set it to record on this input and let them both run. If the VCR has not got an "S" output, then the composite video output will still be OK. I would use the HQ record setting on the DVD recorder. You can easily edit on the hard drive afterwards, and then divide the file to a size that will fit on a DVD blank.
The LP recordings are not an issue here.
