I don't think a USB lead is what you're after (as per the title you've given your post). If you're intending to record direct to a DVD recorder then you'll need a standard composite A/V cable with RCA jacks.

Re: Hi Sony CCD-TRV59E PAL usb lead

Hi thanks for your response, i want to load my hi8 on to my laptop computer but my camcorder does not have any firewall points that everyone says i need so i was hoping to get something straight from my camcorder straight to my lap top

Re: Hi Sony CCD-TRV59E PAL usb lead

Your camcorder is an old analogue Hi8 model, but a PC/laptop can only work with a digital video file. You therefore need to use a hardware device to convert the analogue video to digital. Have a look in This old thread for some advice on what you need to get the files onto the laptop.

....Or use a Settop DVD recorder,( with the normal AV cables) then use the resulting DVD on the PC ( Just copy or use a software "import" function)

It works
The Cheapest ADVC is THIS ONE
A settop DVD recorder may cost the same more or less though if you want that alternative
