Where do i stand?

Have a JVC GR-D50 camcorder which my dad had owned for around a year and then was given to me and had a problem with the CCD Sensor. After proceeding to find out the problem, JVC's website admitted fault by using a faulty CCD Sensor in the original manufacturer of the camcorder.

The camcorder was sent away in October 2008 and recieved back later that month, upon testing the camcorder for around 5-10 minutes, it seemed as if the problem was fixed.

December 2008 comes around and i try the camcorder again, and everything seems fine and records fine and dandy.

Jan/Feb 2009 comes around and i want to record something, so i take the camcorder out of the bag and try to turn it on. It won't power up, i try to charge it, no charge light comes on. I test the battery and it's fine so i try my other 2 spares and they are fine but still nothing from the camcorder.

It has been away for repair for an image CCD sensor problem, come back and had 15 mins use max and now has another fault. Coincedence?

JVC have contacted me back saying that i need to take it to a repair agent and pay for it to be fixed. It worked fine before it came back with this problem after 15 mins use after fixing a problem that they accepted liability for.

Where do i stand? Worth getting in touch with trading standards? Which?

Thanks for your answers.

Andy

Re: Where do i stand?

Your repair was for a specific sensor problem, and now a completely different problem arises. It is possible that the new problem has occured as a result of the repair not being correctly carried out, but it seems unlikely - after all, the camera did function for a while after you had it returned.
I would think it unlikely that JVC will accept any connection.

They're more likely to take the same sort of view the garage takes when you get a puncture the day after your car has been serviced. The nail may have come from the garage forecourt, but try proving it!

it's also unlikely that the camera is worth repairing -from what I've read, the minimum service charge is more likely to be higher than the cost of a similar DV replacement camera!

Not what you want to hear, i suspect!
