Re: Vegas 7 VCD to DVD converson .mpg file wont recoganise

Firstly I would make sure you are actually renaming it properly ( ie you can see that Nizam.dat becomes Nizam.mpg
Also try playing the renamed file in VLC to ensure it is still intact as a video file
Otherwise you can try and convert the *.dat file to mpg with any no of video conversion software to mpeg instead of just renaming
Before you do this make sure your Vegas can actually import any mpeg file as it may be a Vegas issue : repairing or " registering" the mpeg plug-in may be the problem
Have a think before you try to reinstall Vegas

Start by unistalling first, deleting the Vegas entry from the Common folder then reinstalling it

Re: Vegas 7 VCD to DVD converson .mpg file wont recoganise

Any no of converters can do this . If you really must You can use Nero Vision
but

However , I suspect you are not really chaging the DAT to mpg extension correctly
DAT, like VOB are mpeg files and properly renamed should not be identifiable as thier original names any more
Is your file properties in Windows configured to show extentions of registered files?
